Star Wars: A Wayward Eye
Jedi Master Kirana Ti
Kirana Ti was a member of the Singing Mountain Clan of Force-sensitive, rancor-riding witches on the world of Dathomir. She was a member of the inaugural class at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 and became a Jedi Knight and later, a Jedi Master in the New Jedi Order.
Singing Mountain Clan
During the battle between the Singing Mountain Clan and the Nightsisters, Kirana and one of her sisters, Ferra, were dispatched to defend against the onslaught brought on by the Nightsisters. The two, followed closely by Teneniel Djo were confronted in a stairwell by two hidden Nightsisters, one of whom used the force to immediately twist around Ferra’s neck, killing her. Kirana fired a blind shot with her blaster in the direction of their foes, but Teneniel, in a fit of rage, unleashed a powerful wind storm, tapping into the Dark side of the Force to destroy the two hidden Nightsisters and save Kirana. Kirana then remarked, weeping in fear of Teneniel, when she noticed a blood vessel had broken beneath her friend’s eye, a mark of the feared Nightsisters. Teneniel then left her comrade to defend the Millennium Falcon, and Kirana resumed the fight against the Nightsisters.
During her training at the Jedi Praxeum, Kirana and her clanmates were instrumental in Luke’s recovery of the Chu’unthor, which had crashed centuries ago on her homeworld and contained much information on the ways of the old Jedi.
When Luke established his Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, she left her husband and daughter to study the ways of the Jedi under Luke, where she became a good friend of Streen. She was instrumental in helping defeat Exar Kun’s hold on Luke Skywalker, and served as the focal point for the trainees spiritual battle with the spirit of the Sith lord.
Later, Kirana Ti and Streen were present at the Jedi Praxeum when Dorsk 82’s call for help arrived. Dorsk 82 and Kyp Durron had departed a few days earlier to the planet Corbos to investigate a distress call from the miners there. Finding the miners all dead, and temporarily abandoned by Durron, Dorsk had called for help. Traveling in her starship, she and Streen joined the new trainee and tracked down Durron. While he’d defeated a large Leviathan on his own, the four of them discovered another one of these gargantuan beasts, the mother which was far larger than the previous one. Together they managed to destroy it, using the power generator to electrocute it.
Even though it was a traditional right of passage to construct one’s own lightsaber, Kirana used Gantoris’ lightsaber for some time after his death. In conjunction with this, she still carried her traditional Dathomiri spear. This was one example of keeping alive her homeworld’s traditions, also evidenced by continuing to wear her native armor instead of Jedi robes. This example would later be followed by Tenel Ka, another Dathomiri to train at the Academy.
The Yuuzhan Vong War
During the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, Kirana Ti’s whereabouts were unclear, though it was assumed that she helped protect her family and homeworld of Dathomir. After the Yuuzhan Vong war, Kirana Ti, Damaya, and Streen did a great deal of work on Dathomir, and even established a Jedi Praxeum to train the native witches in the ways of the Jedi.
Six years after the end of the war, Kirana was one of several Jedi siding with Kyp Durron. She volunteered to fly a StealthX on a rescue mission inside Killik space where Luke and Han were suspected to have been captured.
Kirana also had a niece, Sanola, who was also a Knight by the Second Galactic Civil War.
At some point, Kirana became a Jedi Master.
